| Sally completed a Bachelor of Arts in Education, majoring in Physical Education and Mathematics whilst she was in the Australian Institute of Sport. She also worked in between this and her 11 sessions of hockey training per week. She taught Phys Ed for a couple of years and then was awarded another scholarship to study Strategic Marketing. After this she commenced work in advertising, marketing and sponsorship. She also wrote for a newspaper at the time, and continued to do so for another 10 years, as well as some radio and television work. Sally moved to Melbourne, as her husband became the Senior Assistant Coach to Mick Malthouse at Collingwood Football Club. Whilst in Melbourne Sally worked as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Docklands Authority. Sally's husband, Michael Broadbridge, completed a three year term as an assistant coach at Fremantle Football Club in 2007 and is now an assistant coach at West Coast Football Club for 2008 and beyond. Sally and Michael have three children, Jason, Ashley and Kara. Sally released her second book, I want to be a Footballer in March 2007. Her first book was released in time for the 2004 Olympic Games and is called, I want to be an Olympian. Sally's third book, I want to be a Cricketer, co-written with former Test cricketer, Justin Langer, is due for release in October 2008. During 2007 Sally worked as a Strategic Marketer but was so busy as a presenter that she presented 197 presentations to schools, corporate bodies, libraries, universities and at events throughout the year. These presentations were motivational in nature but centered around helping and encouraging people to continually improve. She has an Order of Australia Medal and has been awarded many other awards for writing, sport and volunteerism. Now, at 40, Sally plays the occasional game of hockey, but has moved back to her childhood activity of ballet and hip hop and keeps fit by running, swimming and boxing. Sally is also very closely associated with Healthway, WA's Health Promotion Foundation and she promotes healthy eating habits at every opportunity. |
